Renewable energy is the next frontier. To sustain the western lifestyle and bring the promise of
middle class life to emerging countries in Asia and throughout the world, and to lift the third
world out of poverty, we need to tap all the energy sources available. And, we need to do it
without destroying the financial, political, or ecological systems of the world.
Not easy. And, no silver bullet will solve the problems. Remember when "nuclear energy will
make electricity free"?
Woops, a few side effects.. for the next 10 million years.
Recently, corn ethanol has become a glamour fuel. And, the farmers love it. But, the people
who need to eat food are not so sure, since corn prices are up 4X.
So, even good ideas sometimes have bad unintended consequences
Sure, we need some nuclear, and some oil, some coal, and a lot of other sources. We need
wind. We need solar. We need E85 ethanol-powered cars, and biodiesel for cars and trucks. .
We need fuel cells. We need geoethermal.
We need Innovation. The kind of innovation we have seen in electronics and genetics. The
innovation engine of the US and the world is a pretty powerful force. So, let's tap it...
TNNRG is a fledgling site to aggregate information, and share clever ideas. This is pretty basic,
so set your expectations very low. However, it's a fun project being undertaken by Tom
Newsom. After 25 years in high tech, Tom is focusing on renewable energy. Some day this site
could get very big, very interesting, and quite valuable. So, have faith, and stay tuned....
